Aperture Cabernet Sauvignon, Del Rio Ranch | 2017
$149.00
Aperture’s Jesse Katz (formerly of Screaming Eagle, Robert Foley, and Lancaster Estate) is quickly becoming a household name for his critically acclaimed reds which showcase the power and beauty of Sonoma. With his photographic attention to detail and extremely selective winemaking process, his wines are wildly exuberant, yet underneath all their big and colorful fruit, you’ll find a thoughtful expression of California terroir.
Located at the top of Chalk Hill Road in Alexander Valley, Del Rio Ranch is one of the steepest vineyards in Sonoma with the benefit of chalky volcanic soils. A true gem of Sonoma terroir, the vines stretch deep into the earth, facing a warm south and southwest exposure. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this Del Rio Ranch 2017 is a magnificent combination of richness and mystique. The bottle almost tastes like its striking label: brilliant blues, dark purples, and airy mountain greens. Aged in 50% new oak for 20 months, a pleasant woodsy spice and soft sweetness extend the palate and a chilly bone of minerality plays throughout the long finish. ~AA
