Chianti, Florentia by L'Arco | 2017

From the village where Leonardo da Vinci was born, just west of Florence, this is a plush version of Sangiovese. The fruits are dark cherry and plums with a core of iron, winter spice and vanilla. It's moderate-plus in body with moderate-plus tannin, but the tannins are deceptively mellow (rather than harsh). Drink this with pasta and red sauces, a cheeseburger, or mom's meatballs. No decanting necessary, serve between 59-64 (F) in a Bordeaux glass.
