Bourgogne Gamay by Liger-Belair 2016
What's Gamay doing with Pinot Noir? In 2010 Thibault Liger-Belair was diasppointed with the quality of his traditional Bourgogne Rouge bottlings, so he decided to add some zesty Gamay from his newly acquired domaine in Beaujolais. Happy with the results, his experiment became tradition, and a new label was born, "Les Deux Terres." 85% Gamay with 15% Pinot Noir, it's a blend of Beaujolais terroir with Hautes-Côtes de Nuits terroir. Directly shipped from the winery, the 2016 has plenty of gusto left with dark raspberry, cherry licorice, and woodsy spice and is exactly the type of wine to choose, when you want something sophisticated, but not extra fancy.
