I love Frappato (and who wouldn't?)
With its melty tannins and super silky berry fruit, it's the "Frenchie" of Italian wine. Add a chill and forgetta 'bout it, s'il vous plaît!
With so many good Frappato wines out there, it's hard to stand-out. The obvious choices, are well, obvious: Occhipinti, COS, Valle dell'Acate, Donnafugata, and... Occhipinti. Yet, Gorghi Tondi is in a class of its own — organically farmed vineyards in southwestern fringe of Sicily on unique soils of sands and limestone. Here, Frappato never tasted so light, perfect, and bright! Translucent and wafer-thin in the glass, it explodes with a rainbow of fruits on the palate: strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, white cherry, blood orange, and peach. While it's fruit forward, it's far from a "fruit bomb," balanced by hints of cardamom, rose, and sweet fennel. With only 24 bottles to sell, wake-up and taste the Frappato!
