Pinot Noir, Ceras by Antica Terra | 2017
The wines of Antica Terra are exuberant, wild, and in every good way, hedonistic. Founded by a pair of New Yorkers in the late 1980s, the winery was sold in 2005. Enter Maggie Harrison, longtime former assistant winemaker at California super cult Sine Qua Non. Yet, underneath the exuberance, a deliberate sense of place unfolds in the glass. The Ceras bottling is, perhaps, the least fruit forward of her Pinot Noir collection. It's got a thick coat of minerals, tart and bluish like the sea, with big aromas of the Pacific Northwest — pine, smoke, and mushroomy earth. We recommend decanting the wine for at least 45 minutes and lean-on the simplest, freshest ingredients to make a meal worth remembering.
