Located on the edge of Slovenia in Italy’s Friuli region, Castello di Spessa makes one of the best Ramato wines I’ve tried. Far from thin and watery, it overflows with yellow apple, white peach, apricot kernel, and crumbly stone. Wavy over straight, meaty over thin, it’s exactly the type of wine I want when I’m in the mood for a richer wine, but still cold, and not red. So don’t call it rosé and please don’t call it orange, it’s just tasty Ramato!
