The style of Il Palazzone has evolved over the years, moving from a modern style to a more traditional one. With less oak, and less alcohol, the current releases show off the pretty side of Sangiovese Grosso with rich, ruby red fruits, sweet leather, and aged balsamic. Harvested by hand, this entry level bottling comes from three vineyards surrounding the town of Montalcino planted to the quintessential sandy-clay soils known as “Galestro.” Aged in large Slavonian casks, the tannins are firm, yet softened by a warm vintage. Ideal for drinking now, with decanting recommended, this is an excellent Brunello for those who prefer purity over power. ~Allegra A
