Located in southeast Sicily in the province of Ragusa, Vito Catania of Gulfi Cantina is a leader of organic farming, in a very unforgiving region. Here, clay-limestone soils and an elevation of 420 meters produce wild and tasty reds, made from Nero d'Avola and Frappato. Following minimal intervention methods in the cellar and aged for one year in barrel, the nose is a spiral of sour cherry, dark plums, and grilled herbs.
