Château Potensac | 2010
I always forget about how much I enjoy Bordeaux, until I open a bottle of something like this, a nicely aged claret that makes me nostalgic for my cold weather roots. Château Potensac is one of the best values in Bordeaux, and the "cherry on top" for this wine is its excellent vintage. On the label, you'll notice “Delon,” referring to the family who controls a hit list of Bordeaux powerhouses, including Léoville-Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, and Château Nénin of Pomerol.
The Delon style is one of power and longevity, evident in this vibrant and long-legged 2010. Made from almost equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a whopping 21% Cabernet Franc, red plum and crème de cassis morph into all the enchanting smells of time in the bottle — cedar spice, violet greens, and sweet gobs of tobacco and stone. In classic Delon fashion, the tannins have a delicious grit, carrying the wine into its very long and savory finish. ~AA
