Rated 96 Points from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, Churchill’s 2017 Vintage Port is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, Tinta Francisca, and Tinta Cão. Unlike Tawny Ports which spend most of their life in barrel, Vintage Ports are a sub-category of Ruby Ports which spend most of their life in the bottle. In their youth their “Ruby” fruits are decadent, enormously ripe, and rich, and it takes many years, under the cork, for those “Tawny” butterscotch flavors to emerge. If 2017 commemorates a special year for you, I recommend putting this away for twenty years. In the end, you will be greatly rewarded with one of wine’s greatest treasures, an eternal classic, Vintage Port. ~Allegra A
