CVNE Contino Graciano Rioja | 2017

$125.00

Graciano is a grape with a lot of personality and since 1994, Contino has strived to rescue it from darkness. Typically used as a blending grape in Rioja, Graciano is prized for its rich color and signature fragrance of violets, cardamom, and white pepper. If you like spice, then Graciano is your friend. Sourced from Contino’s 3.7-hectare San Gregorio Grande vineyard, planted in 1979 and 1989, the wine is fermented in 100HL French oak vats, then rests in concrete before transferring to used French and American oak barrels. In the glass, the wine speaks Rioja with brambly fruits and bloody earth, but then, its alter ego, Graciano emerges with wild pink and purple snow spices. Excellent with grilled meats, tomato-based sauces, or seafood stews, keep Graciano on your tasting radar when searching for Rioja. ~Allegra A
