Domaine Ratte Clos Maire | 2022

$55.00

**MAXIMUM 4 BOTTLES PER PERSON**

Domaine Ratte of the Jura region makes some of the most magnificent wines east of Burgundy. There’s limestone soils and clay soils and gentle slopes (like Burgundy), but the key difference is its proximity to the Swiss Alps. A harsher, more remote climate produces wines that ironically feel the same. They’re wild and idiosyncratic, but overwhelmingly delicate and sublime. If you want to taste the thrill of the Jura, look no further than Ratte.

Certified Biodynamic, Michel-Henri and Francoise Ratte grow the rare Trousseau à la Dame, a superior version of Trousseau with tiny berries and loosely knit clusters. Their Clos Maire parcel is a natural intermix of this Trousseau, along with Pinot Noir, made in a style to mirror the vineyard’s authenticity: co-fermentation of the two grapes, semi-carbonic maceration, aged in old Burgundy barrels, bottled un-fined, unfiltered, and with a small dose of sulfur to zipper-up the wine’s freshness. In the glass, you can taste Clos Maire’s singularity. Its lifelike kaleidoscope of fruits will make you shiver, and its texture, invisible feathers of the world's most expensive satin, will make it impossible for you not to want to have the bottle all to yourself. Mostly available in Europe, we’re lucky to receive a small allocation of one of our favorite reds. I’d suggest you get two bottles. So, when you accidentally finish the first, you can say, “Thank God I have another.”~Allegra A
