Dominique Lafon Bourgogne Blanc | 2021

$55.00

In 2008, Dominique Lafon started his own label, separate from his family’s iconic estate, “Domaine des Comtes Lafon.” Made from 100% estate fruit, the “Dominique Lafon” label is technically considered a négociant, because he shares a winemaking facility with another producer. The intent of the wines is slightly different than Comtes Lafon, as Dominique states, “If I had to define the style of the DL wines, I would say that the wines have a bit more tension than the wines of Domaine des Comtes Lafon. The élevage on the wines is shorter and the plots are mostly located on the upper part of the hillsides, which gives the wines an interesting minerality and tension.”

This 2021 Bourgogne Blanc puts Dominique’s ethos on full display. Sourced from just two named sites, one in Meursault and one in Puligny-Montrachet, the juice cold settles, followed by a year-long aging in old barrels with little to no stirring of the lees. Lithe and fit with a bone-chilly minerality, this simple Bourgogne Blanc is, rather, complex. So, enjoy the magic of Meursault and Puligny, together, from one of the world’s most exquisite winemakers.  ~Allegra A
