The wines of Yves Gangloff are the ultimate paradigm of finesse within power. They need very little introduction, in fact, they don't even have a website. Why would you, if your wines were produced in such deliciously scare quantities? In fact, at the store we like to hide the Gangloff bottles. If the customers find them, they’re rewarded with one of the greatest Syrah wines on the planet.  

The 2021 La Barbarine has just arrived, and for the first time it includes fruit from Yves’ rare “La Sereine Noire” bottling, which is typically bottled separately (and more expensive). The frost drastically reduced the yields of the La Sereine plots, thus there wasn’t enough to justify a separate bottling. Aged in a liberal percentage of new Frenck oak, La Barbarine shows off everything we love about Gangloff Syrah: a never-ending spiral of shiny dark fruits, intoxicating umami spices, and a finish that is big, but so pretty, all at the same time. We’re fortunate to have secured a whole case of this iconic and hard-to-get wine. So, if you’re a fan of Syrah, we’d suggest to try a bottle or two because it’s truly impossible to top Gangloff. ~Allegra A
