Bodegas La Horra Ribera del Duero, Corimbo | 2015

$38.00

Ribera del Duero is a competitive category, especially here, in South Florida. With access to so many great producers (all the big names, back vintages, and small estates), it's hard to standout. In fact, I don't remember the last time that I was pumped-up on a Ribera wine like I am on Corimbo. I love sellling this wine in-store to our guests who are looking for a powerful red that still screams "Old World," a wine with gobs of stone and earth hiding beneath the juicy fruit and with tannins that always feel more dry than sweet. That's Corimbo.

Bodegas La Horra is the "sister" winery of legendary Rioja producer, Bodegas Roda. After several years of research, looking for the best plots of Tempranillo, they joined forces with the Balbas family, gatekeepers of some of the most coveted old vines of Tinta del País (Tempranillo) in the village of La Horra. First produced in 2008, Corimbo is 100% Tinta del País, farmed organically, aged in the magical combination of American and French oak. At this price point, you simply can't find a Ribera del Duero as grand, pure, and persuasive as Corimbo. In the glass, blackberry liqueur, cassis, licorice, and smoky violets are just a few of the aromas that woo the senses. On the palate the wine has bravado, then all the fruit, earth, and spice melt together in the most delicious way. So, if you're like me and forgot about Ribera del Duero a while, reset your palate and try Corimbo.
