Anónimas is the story of two Galician women whose simple mission is make fresh and elegant wines. They work with sustainable old-vine vineyards throughout Galicia, use low-intervention methods in the cellar, and make wines that put deliciousness above trend. This bottling comes from the granite-schist slopes in the Chantada subzone of the Ribeira Sacra region. Destemmed and lightly crushed, occasional pump-overs and punch-downs in the cellar yield high-toned and magnetic fruit in the glass. Aged completely in steel, the nose tingles the senses with all the shades of cherry and raspberry, pepper and rose. The mouthfeel is soft and cozy, with good tannins to balance the grape’s natural acidity. Perfectly fruity and tart, with no funk or prickly greens, this is exactly the kind of Mencía you should be drinking. ~AA
