Located in the Nemea zone on the Peloponnese peninsula, Mitravelas has been a cornerstone of Greek viticulture since 1828. The winery was officially established in the early 20^th century, and now the 5^th generation is the gatekeeper of the storied estate. We associate the variety, Assyrtiko, with the island of Santorini, but many vines thrive on the mainland, on limestone hillsides stretching towards 500 meters in altitude. 100% estate-farmed and bottled, Mitravelas’ expression of Assyrtiko is authentic with mandarin twist, Meyer lemon, beeswax, and cold white stones. Aged on the lees in tank, there’s a nice broadness to the wine, elongated by fine lines of citrusy acidity. Medium bodied, snappy, and bone-dry, this is a perfect little white for those hot summer days or anything golden, crisp and lemony from the sea. ~Allegra A
