Xinomavro is Greece's age-worthy red grape, with tannins for days, like Piedmont's great Nebbiolo, and the Kokkinos Estate is producing some of the best natural wine in all of Greece. This bottling is made from 100% Xinomavro in the appellation of Naoussa in the northern region of Macedonia. Like a fine Barbaresco, it's energetic on the palate with fresh and dried cherries, mountain herbs and flowers. The tannins are firm, but friendly, stretching out the wine into an impressively long finish. We like this wine in a Burgundy glass served with a slight chill alongside grilled sausages, lamb meatballs, or your best Bolognese. ~AA
