One of the greatest values for red wines in Spain, Abadía Retuerta sits on the western outskirts of the Ribera del Duero appellation in the greater Castilla y León region. An intriguing blend of 64% Tempranillo with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, oak aging takes place in both French and American oak. The Retuerta style is for those who appreciate Bordeaux-like mineral, tannin, and spice. In the glass, smoky violets, cigar, and sweet, leafy greens uncover a core of raspberries and blues. The palate is full, but maintains zips of acidity and refreshment. Exceptional in for its price, Abadía Retuerta is never a bad choice.  ~Allegra A
