Adler Kerner Valle Isarco | 2023

From the Isarco Valley, the northernmost corner of Alto Adige, Kerner thrives, here, on gravelly, sun-lit mid-slope vineyards, where icy breezes keep the wines swift and nimble. An oddball crossing of Schiava and Riesling created in the 1920s, Kerner is a late ripening variety that inherits its parents’ best traits. In the glass, you’ll uncover a wonderful juxtaposition of Riesling’s crystalline citrus, layered with Schiava’s alpine herbs. One of my favorite varieties in Italy, and a total Kerner snob, this bottling from the Adler is a no-brainer. 100% alpine gold. ~Allegra Angelo
