Château Potensac Médoc | 2010

From the Delon family of Léoville las Cases and Pomerol's Nénin, Potensac is a serious Bordeaux with deft tannin and grit. The estate's vineyards are located west of the Ordonnac village, north of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, in the greater Médoc region. A blend of 42% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc, the nose is enticing with cassis, warm stones, and cigar spices. An excellent, even-keeled vintage, the 2010 is drinking in a sweet spot, equally balanced between its dark red fruits and gravelly earth. One of Bordeaux's greatest values, Potensac rarely disappoints. ~Allegra A
