Quinta de Chocapalha Castelão Vinho Regional Lisboa | 2021

This is the family estate of the Douro's wonderful winemaker, Sandra Tavares da Silva (of Wine & Soul). Just north of Lisbon, her parents still live part-time at Chocapalha, and her sister directs the winery operations. Besides making a knockout Arinto, this Castelão is one of the best I've had for its price. It perfectly sums up the grape with dark red fruits, brownie spices, cured beef, and moderate tannins. When in the hands of a highly skilled winemaker, Castelão is one of Portugal's tastiest values. ~Allegra A
