Flor de Pingus | 2023

A blend of Tinto del País (Tempranillo) with 5% Grenache, Flor de Pingus comes from many different plots in the sub-region of La Horra, where rocky soils and a limestone substrate give his wines an uncut gem-like minerality. Aged partly in 10-15% new French oak, 2023 marked the first vintage in which part of wine rested in 2,000L oak vats. Zippier than previous vintages of Flor, the 2023 leans into dark reds fruits chasing violets, melty licorice, and chocolate cake spice. Generous, yet fresh, and energized from start to finish, Flor de Pingus remains in a class of its own. ~Allegra Angelo
