Fogliarti Langhe Nebbiolo | 2021

A new but old venture, siblings Guido and Annalisa took over their grandfather's estate in 2016 in Barolo's powerhouse village of Castiglione Falletto. One of their first steps was converting the family's six hectares of vines to organic and biodynamic farming and hiring Piedmont's rising star oenologist, Gian Luca Colombo. The Langhe Nebbiolo is a pure expression of the family's east facing vineyards. Macerations are on the long side, 22 days, then the wine is aged in Stockinger barrels (15-25HL). The Fogliarti style is classic, ballsy Nebbiolo, with tannins and acid that feel friendly over aggressive. From A-to-Z this estate is doing everything right. So, drink them while you can. ~Allegra A
