Owned by Hialeah native, Pablo Antonio Suarez, who literally packed up his car and headed to California during the summer of 2018, Identity Wine Co. is making some seriously good wines that showcase California's underrated appellations. Identity Crisis No.2 is a blend of 5 different varietals from 5 vineyards throughout the North Coast, vinified in small lots and blended after individual aging in neutral barrels. I dislike the term, “Kitchen Sink” blend, because it feels lowbrow, as if it's a lackluster wine made from leftover grapes or juice, and Crisis No. 2 is anything but lackluster. It’s filled to the brim with personality, capturing the best qualities of Bordeaux and Rhône grapes. It has a full spectrum of berry fruits (red to purple to blue), light spices, and big green trees that bleed Californian. The 14.6% alcohol level is brilliantly deceiving, as it drinks like a light-to-medium red, deliciously bright and totally chillable. ~Allegra A
