A blend of more than 12 varieties farmed by small growers across Alto Adige, Misto Mare completely shatters the idea of a boring “kitchen sink” wine. Created by Alois Lageder — the historic 7th-generation estate that has long led the region in organic and biodynamic farming, as well as singular, one-off bottlings — the wine is intentionally chaotic, much like the label suggests. Fermented spontaneously and aged in steel, it’s a magical mystery blend that drinks as if a light red wine married the alpine freshness of a white.
