The man behind the Pasdeloup label is Burgundy négociant, Arnaud Baillot. This is the estate of his wife's family, and they choose to keep the André Pasdeloup name. I'm weary of most 2021 bottlings as the vintage produced many wines that show overt green tones with paper-thin textures. This Mercurey is none of those things. It has a core of red fruits and sweet iron, then underneath the fruit, the mushroom moss greens reveal themselves. It's very, very good and reminds me of a classic bistro wine that you'll only find in Paris. Even finding a decent Bourgogne Rouge, nowadays, for a decent price is tough. This is the best value red Burgundy I've had in a long time, maybe ever. Get what you can.
