When I visited Galicia, Pentecostés was an immediate “Wow” winery for me. Part of the thrill was meeting Galego-speaking Frenchman, Dominique Roujou de Boubée (as you can see below). He’s a rockstar viticulture/oenology consultant who’s been a father figure for terroir-driven wines, all over Galicia. Pentecostés is a dot of an estate in a hidden pocket of Rías Baixas called Val Miñor, where Albariño leans more green-tropical in its fruit profile, versus the icier citrus versions of the Salnés Valley. This morning, looking back at my electronic journal, on 9/9/25 I wrote: “Peach, green banana, not bitter at all, super fresh, not overly creamy, slightly flinty—WOW, my favorite so far.” If that sounds like your kind of Albariño, then put Pentecostés on your drinking list. It’s a hot newcomer that’s here to stay. ~Allegra Angelo
