Here, Chardonnay grows with an electric tension that makes a category of its own. Idiosyncratic, in the best way possible, Anselme Selosse treats his fruit like an ancient philosopher, preferring slow ferments in old barrels, long lees aging, and minimal dosage. Sometimes, it’s hard to justify wines that enter this stratosphere of price, but not (and never) with Selosse.
