To me, Valbuena is the best expression of Vega Sicilia. More elegant than its big brother, Unico, the palate is a masterpiece of Tempranillo. Aged over five years, the new release of 2018 shows-off a fresher vintage with zingy blue and purple fruits, smoky violets, and crumbles of white stone. A touch of American oak (5%) and Merlot (4%) cushion the natural tannins and acidity, unfolding into a well-rounded and pleasantly mellow finish. ~AA
