The story of Stella di Campalto began in 1992, when Stella Viola di Campalto purchased the abandoned San Giuseppe winery. One of the few women owned wineries in the region, Stella started from ground zero — planting vines and implementing organic and biodynamic methods to breathe new life back into an entire ecosystem. Certified organic since 1996, her vineyards are in Montalcino’s southeastern zone, where volcanic and iron-rich soils breed powerful, sky-high aromatics in the glass. Depending on what nature dictates, she typically bottles just a Rosso and a Brunello, sometimes a Riserva, and in rare, stars-aligned circumstances, barrel selected bottlings, like Cielo.

Named after the word “Sky,” Cielo comes from a blend of vineyards, and it’s the first time we’ve offered one of Stella’s exquisite Brunello bottlings (trust us, there’s hardly any). If you’ve never had the wines of Stella, they are hard to describe in words. With their spiral of wild berry fruits, they are alive to the extreme, leaving you energized, committed, and slightly confused (in a good way). Even writing these words, I get goosebumps, sweet chills of excitement for those who will experience Stella di Campalto for the first time. That's Stella, and she's pretty darn special. ~Allegra A
