Shaped by three generations of women Vigna Petrussa is a leading estate in Italy that makes indigenous Friulian varietals. Currently under the direction of Hilde Petrussa, their Friulano is one of the region’s best. Usually round and lower in acidity, Petrussa’s expression of Friulano has a cool and refreshing acidity packed with spearmint and wintergreen lift. Vinified and aged in large old barrels, a slight golden-green hue etches the glass. At 14% (typical for Friulano), the palate rolls with sweet citrus and orange stone fruits. Then, all the exotic green notes power the finish. Outstanding with spices such as fenugreek, coriander, turmeric, and ginger, Friulano is a cook’s delight. Decanting recommended. ~Allegra A
