2-Pack of André Pasdeloup Mercurey Rouge | 2021

The man behind the Pasdeloup label is Burgundy négociant, Arnaud Baillot. This is the estate of his wife's family, and they chose to keep the André Pasdeloup name. I'm weary of 2021 bottlings, as the vintage produced many wines that show overt green tones with paper-thin textures. This Mercurey is none of those things. It has a core of fresh red fruits and sweet iron, then underneath the fruit, the mushrooms, tea, and moss reveal themselves. It's very good and reminds me of a classic bistro wine that you'll only find at your friend's restaurant in Paris. Even finding a decent Bourgogne Rouge, nowadays, for a decent price is tough. This is the best value red Burgundy I've seen in a decade. Get what you can. ~Allegra A
