4-Pack of Voirin-Jumel L'Assemblage Champagne | NV

Formerly called, "Brut Tradition," the new flagship cuvée from Voirin-Jumel is stunning. With a sleek new look and sophistical feel, which includes a British green racing colored foil and an egg cream textured label, "L'Assemblage" is a blend of Pinot Noir from the Marne Valley with Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (no more Meunier), based on the 2017 and 2018 harvest. Fifth generation, Julie and Pauline Voirin, were the brains behind the makeover, and in a time when the consumer is anxious and fearful of tariffs, Voirin-Jumel reassures us that you can still drink excellent Champagne for a non-exuberant price. The dosage, lowered to 6 grams per liter, shows the ripeness and quality of the fruit, and to me, this drinks more Pinot-forward, even though, Chardonnay is an equal part. The palate overflows with cherry biscuit, white peach, and pastry flakes, followed by sea salt, lemon, and chalky spice. It's more vinous than linear, which I love, and the finish is savory, crunchy, dry! As our Champagne by-the-glass for three years, I am energized by the Domaine's upgrade.
