Cobb Pinot Noir, Doc's Ranch | 2018
Cobb Pinot Noir, Doc's Ranch | 2018
As Ross Cobb states, Cold, wind, and fog. A Pinot’s delight, is the lifeline of the Doc’s Ranch vineyard. In 2017, Ross signed a long-term lease, making Doc’s Ranch the second estate vineyard for Cobb Wines. With a pitch-perfect view of Point Reyes, Doc’s Ranch is a steep hillside of tightly spaced vines. Due to its southeast orientation, the grapes ripen earlier in the day and are protected by harsh westerly winds. Yields are low, giving us Pinot with bone-chilling purity and evocative aromas. Feathery and compact at the same time, this wine benefits from aeration. After an hour in the glass, it will show off its exotic side with star anise, rose, and camphor. With persistent and fine tannins, the finish is long, and savory. A first-class expression of extreme terroir Pinot, add Doc’s Ranch to your tasting beat, and be on the lookout for more inspiring wines from Ross Cobb. ~Allegra A
