Familia Deicas Albariño Atlántico Sur | 2024

From Uruguay's wine powerhouse, the Familia Deicas brand was established in 2000, separating itself from the family's more commercial endeavors. Led by Santiago Deicas, the Atlántico Sur collection puts their unique coastal influence on display with racy fruits and tangy, borderline briny, minerality. Sourced from the Garzón and Juanicó vineyards, within fifteen miles of the sea, this Albariño is not as perfumed and peachy as the typical Galician style. Granite soils of Garzón and limestone, in the other, create an irresistible "bowl of rocks" finish. Aged five months on the lees, in tank, the alcohol finishes at 12.3% with a ballsy 3.13ph. Forget Uruguayan, this is one of South America's best value whites. ~Allegra A
