Grüner Veltliner is a grape that I forget about how much I like it until I drink it, and this is a bottle that strongly checks the boxes. It's from Steinsetz, a single vineyard of quartzite, which sits below the famous castle of Gobelsburg. Sustainably farmed, it's managed by a Wutzl himself, Franz-Josef. There's excellent texture in the wine, and for a 2020 vintage, it maintains its yellow-green brightness and gulp-able appeal. Autumn pears, honey apple, white peach, and dewy flowers are just a few of high notes in the glass. Then, Grüner's wheelhouse of garden greens and truffle spice power the finish.
