Paolo Bea Montefalco Rosso Riserva, Pipparello | 2018

The Pipparello vineyard is about 1,300 feet above sea level in the remote hills of Umbria. It’s a blend of Sangiovese with the brooding duo of Montepulciano and Sagrantino. Like all Bea wines, the vines are farmed organically, the macerations are extensive, and there is no fining or filtration at bottling. Unbashful to-the-bone, Pipparello is chockfull of pitch-dark fruits, sweet earth, and bramble spice.
