Marqués de Legarda Rioja Reserva | 2016
Marqués de Legarda is made at Bodegas de la Real Divisa. Founded in 1367, it’s the oldest Bodega in Rioja and one of the oldest wineries in the world! Their style is staunchly old-school, meaning traditional blends of Tempranillo with Graciano and Mazuelo aged in big old barrels (mostly American oak and some French). Unlike other Rioja producers, all of their vines are located in the village, Abalos, in the heart of La Rioja Alta, where the iron-rich soils give the final wines an unmistakable umami core. With all its savory perks, there's no shortage of sweet-smelling fruits: wild berries, dark cherries, and red plums. With moderate alcohol and tannin, this Rioja makes the ultimate pairing wine. From Asian spices, to pizza, to local seafood and grilled meats, you can roam the globe when drinking Rioja, if it's Marqués de Legarda!
