Val de Meigas are the wines of Rebeca Barral whose family has lived for many generations in Galicia's coastal Salnés valley, believed to be the birthplace of the Albariño variety. Her family had produced wine commercially since the 1980s, but it wasn’t until 2015 that Rebeca decided to launch her own project from select family parcels. She settled on the name Val de Meigas—meiga (in English "mage") referring to a witch or sorceress, important figures in Galician folklore. Her style is refreshingly classic, utilizing natural yeasts, avoiding funky skin contact, and promoting extended lees aging in tank. The result? It's like drinking a rainbow, energized with cold ocean waves and whitecaps of tingly acidity. We've been pouring Rebeca's wines by-the-glass for over two years, because they are simply first-class and impossible to beat for the price. ~Allegra
