Petrussa Friulano Friuli Colli Orientali | 2022

Shaped by three generations of women Vigna Petrussa is a leading estate in Italy that makes indigenous Friulian varieties. Currently under the direction of Hilde Petrussa, their Friulano is one of the region’s best. Genetically related to Sauvignon Blanc, Friulano is plumper with a softer acidity and typically reaches a higher alcohol (this one is properly 14%). Vinified and aged in large old barrels, the palate is a jellyroll of sweet citrus and stone fruits. Then, all the outdoor perks of spearmint and wintergreen tingle the finish. Outstanding with spices such as fenugreek, coriander, turmeric, and ginger, Friulano is a cook’s delight. Decanting recommended. ~Allegra A
